It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
